How Not to Write About Africa - Binyavanga Wainaina - narrated by Djimon Hounsou

this expresses my opinions about western people talking / making documentaries / writing books about the African continent. Because they end up patronizing an entire continent while selfishly upping their own status as a person who ‘compassionately cares about Africa’ 

The only post I ever made that got more than 20 notes is a picture of two African children and a piece of writing about poverty. It has 2,178 notes and counting. The world loves being ‘compassionately caring about Africa’
